Children delight in routine and ritual. My family celebrates 100 Days of Holidays with a journal we have created to help us. Starting on Sept 22 (usually the Autumn Equinox) we explore customs and traditions, observe occasions and prepare for parties! Each year we jot down any recipes, crafts supplies or other resources we use, as well as friends and family who we share these experiences with. We also tuck in templates and patterns used in creating decor, cards and gifts. So far this year we set up an autumn nature table, sent a love note on Love Note Day (September 25th), made a Christmas list and decorated with fall leaves (both real and construction paper- one of the templates we save). We have "weeded" through our fall fashions (donating what doesn't fit),delivered a happy fall greeting to friends, participated in fall fairy fun and enjoyed apple cider on National Mulled Cider Day (Sept 30). ![]() We froze apple juice into popsicles for those last few hot days, got pumpkin butter from Trader Joes, and made fall leaf wontons. If you would like to learn more or get more detailed information on any of these rituals or observances please contact me! |
